Chief of Staff

About Us

Syntracts is an AI-powered legal-tech startup on a mission to deliver on the unfulfilled promise of legal AI, reshaping how top firms turn their most valuable asset, their contracts, into structured, actionable intelligence.

Forget prompt engineering and wrapping third-party APIs. We’re building the foundational layer for legal data. With backing from top VCs in NYC, SF, and Boston, our proprietary platform uses hundreds of fine-tuned small language models to structure complex legal documents with unparalleled accuracy. It’s built for the enterprise: secure, scalable, and deployable entirely on-premises.

This is a unique opportunity to join as one of our early team members and help shape not just our operations, but also our culture, processes, and trajectory.

The Role

We’re looking for a Chief of Staff who thrives in early-stage environments and is passionate about building a predictable, scalable, and high-performing organization.

You will work side-by-side with the cofounders to operationalize strategy, strengthen the leadership team, and ensure we deliver on our commitments.

This role reports directly to the cofounder and CEO and is fully remote, with occasional travel to New York City for team events.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a thought partner to the founders on strategy, planning, and execution

  • Own the company’s operating plan and ensure alignment across all teams

  • Establish and enforce core processes that bring clarity, predictability, and accountability

  • Drive preparation and communication for board meetings, investor updates, and fundraising activities

  • Develop the leadership team through coaching, mentorship, and accountability

  • Ensure organizational alignment by translating high-level vision into clear, actionable priorities

Experience & Skills

  • Proven success in operational leadership at early-stage startups (Pre-Seed to Series B), with experience scaling from <20 to 50+ employees

  • Direct partner to founders/CEOs, integrating and leading cross-functional teams in fast-paced, resource-constrained environments

  • Strong financial acumen: P&L management, budgeting, forecasting, and board-level reporting

  • Mastery of OKRs (or similar) to translate vision into actionable quarterly and annual plans

  • Experienced in B2B SaaS, enterprise software, or AI/ML-driven products, with direct involvement in Series A/B fundraising and diligence

  • Systems-builder with a track record of designing and enforcing processes that drive efficiency and accountability

  • Skilled communicator and trusted advisor with high EQ; develops and holds leadership teams accountable

  • Low-ego, high-accountability operator who thrives on disciplined execution and behind-the-scenes impact

Why Join Us

  • Be a true partner in shaping a company from day one

  • Competitive salary + meaningful equity

  • Direct collaboration with experienced founders and mission-driven team
